Sable Antelope

Sables (say-bull) are mammal. Like many of their kind, sable antelopes’ base their social structure on territory, age and strength. 

Sable males are bulls, and they set the grazing territories. The sable female is a a cow. Females walk in herds of 5 to 20. Sable calves are born a light brown/tan color and their markings and color only come in as they get older.

Sables are herbivores – eating grass, herbs, and leaves. The average lifespan of a sable is 17 years.
